Set in a paralleled version of today's ever-growing society of technology and dating, a deranged Los Angeles based therapist creates a cloud-based dating app for the disabled and marginalised members of society. She tests her app on a former client of hers, who she manipulates into downloading and interacting with the app, with the therapist on the other end. Her enjoyment however is cut short after her mobile ends up in the hands of one of her psychotic clients. The outcome is a close call for the therapist, but spells heartbreak and trouble for her two clients.

This short mixes genres of thriller and science fiction with film noir and romance. The aim in telling a fictional story such as this is to not only show the consequences of technology in the wrong hands, but perhaps making reference to a gap in the current (2019) market of online dating apps, which cater to those who have disabilities or require chaperones in order to date. After all, meeting new people and exploring one's romantic side is a necessity of human life which should be available so easily for all.

Status of Production

Development is complete and Underwire is now in pre-production, as of February 2019. In association with 2046 Studios, known for their MixTape shorts, Underwire will be produced by an international mix of filmmakers, known for their work in the horror, drama and thriller genre.
